My last brew I did on this system prior to crushing my own grain I got 56% brewhouse efficiency. This was on a 13lb grain bill and probably my worst efficiency ever. I brewed the exact same beer but this time using my owncrush with the factorysetting for the barley crusher. My efficiency on this batch was 65%.

At 29 days postpitch, I took a final SG reading and found the coarse crush beer had dropped a smidge to SG while the fine crush beer was at SG. Left: coarse crush FG | Right: fine crush FG. It was at this point the beers were cold crashed, hit with some Biofine, then kegged and force carbonated.

You can sometimes get them on sale for 79 can't speak to a 3 roller but if money is no object get one or buy a 2 roller and a 55LB of good Pilsen Malt or Maris Otter and have fun making great beer. Yes. I used a barley crusher for about 3035 batches before the knurling wore out. When I received my monster mill with hardened steel rollers, the first thing I noticed was how much more heavy duty it was. They second thing I noticed is that I could mill 40# of grain in no more than 23 minutes (if that).

The mill only works when you turn it a specific direction, clockwise I believe. I've never used a grain mill myself in the past, so I did a 10# batch and realized it wasn't crushed at all. Had to mess around with it to figure out. Since there are no instructions that came with the unit, this was a little frustrating.

That motor seems on the weak side but it all depends on the mill that you plan on driving. The max RPM's seems on the low side as well (135 RPM). For comparison my mill motor is 180 RPM at ftlbs. This Link motor works with the Barley Crusher based on a member of the beer club.
